The 'École des Mines de Douai' is a French public
engineering institute located in the city of
Douai, close to
Lille.
Founded in
1878, the institute was originally a technical school providing for the training needs of skilled workers for the coalmining industry. In the 1960's, it awarded its first
engineering degree. Today, the École des Mines de Douai trains engineers and scientists in various technological fields.
