Sunderland AFC won the league, and in doing are still the last team to win the league who wear striped jerseys.
Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers were relegated from the 1st Division and therefore became the last two of the founder members of the football league to lose top flight status for the first time.

Honours

The season 1935-36 has - so far - proved to be the highest finishing league position in the history of Brentford F.C.
