1957 African Cup of Nations' was the first edition of the
African Cup of Nations, the
soccer championship of Africa (
CAF). It was hosted by
Sudan, and three teams participated:
Egypt,
Sudan, and
Ethiopia with
South Africa disqualified because of
apartheid.
Egypt beat Ethiopia 4-0 in the final to become the first African champions, with all four goals scored by Al-Diba (Mohamed Diab El-Attar).
