2002 FIBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The '2002 FIBA World Championship' was an international basketball tournament held by the International Basketball Federation in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA from August 29 to September 8, 2002.
In spite of hosting the event, the U.S. team was only able to finish 6th, one of their lowest showings in international play. This led some analysts to call it the end of the Dream Team.
The final game between Argentina and Yugoslavia was also controversial; with less than one second to go and the score tied at 75-75, the referees refused to give Argentina two free throws after a hard foul the on Argentine player Sconochini, who was going clear to the hoop. Yugoslavia finally won the game in overtime despite the protests of the Argentine players. Argentina finished the tournament with the best record, losing only one game.
