24 ORAS
'''24 Oras''' ("Twenty-four hours") is the current flagship primetime news broadcast of GMA Network in the Philippines. Launched in 2004, it is one of the most watched news programs in the country. It partly revitalized the primetime programming of the network, similar to what rival news program ''TV Patrol'' has done to ABS-CBN in 1987.
The program airs live around 18:30 (+8 GMT) nationwide. It is also broadcast through GMA Pinoy TV. Aired during weekdays, the program airs on extended special coverage of breaking news during the weekend. In 2004, the program pre-empted the network's election special to cut into primetime programming. On 1 December 2005, the coverage by ''24 Oras'' of a siege of Camp Bagong Diwa was mentioned in the best news programme category in the Asian Television Awards in Singapore.
The first reformatting of the program was implemented in May 2006, with a new opening ident and an updated graphic set. The program also moved to a new set, with floating large rear projection screens that allow the anchors to virtually "talk" to correspondents in live feeds. Pia Guanio hosts the showbiz news segment of the program, "Chika Minute". PAGASA's Nathaniel Cruz anchors weather news during severe weather conditions.
