42ND ARMOURED DIVISION (UNITED KINGDOM)

The '42nd Armoured Division' was a 1st Line Territorial Army division during the Second World War.

History

The division converted from the 42nd (East Lancashire) Infantry Division on 1 November 1941. It was one of two British armoured divisions not to see combat during the Second World War, the other being the 9th. It remained in Britain and was disbanded on 17 October 1943.
