82D TRAINING WING

The '82d Training Wing' ('82 TRW') is a wing of the United States Air Force based out of Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.

History

The 82d trained to maintain proficiency in fighter escort and tactical fighter operations from, 1947-1949.
The 82d replaced and absorbed resources of the 3525th Pilot Training Wing in February 1973 and assumed undergraduate pilot training operations until March 1993. It began undergraduate pilot training for females in September 1976 and graduated first class of ten women on 2 September 1977.
Since July 1993, the 82 TRW has conducted technical, field, and medical training but flew and possessed no aircraft.
