A BOOK OF PRINCES AND PRINCESSES

'A Book of Princes and Princesses' is a 1970 anthology of 13 fairy tales from around the world that have been collected and retold by Ruth Manning-Sanders. It is one in a long series of such anthologies by Manning-Sanders.
This book was first published in the United Kingdom in 1969, by Methuen & Co. Ltd.
Some of tales from this book are recollected in ''A Choice of Magic'' (1971) by Manning-Sanders.
In the foreword, the author writes, "Of all the characters found in fairy tales it is the princes and princesses who lead the most adventurous lives. The handsome and valorous prince, before he can win his princess, must go through one perilous adventure after another. ... [H]e must go battle with giants and dragons, [and] outwit wizards, witches, and goblins."
The author notes that the final story in this collection, Stupid Head, is at least 800 years old.
