'Abraham "Jack" Lincoln II' (August 14, 1873 – March 5, 1890), was the middle of three children of Robert Todd Lincoln and Mary Eunice Harlan, and a grandson of Abraham Lincoln. Jack died in Europe at the age of 16 of blood poisoning after an operation for an abscess. Jack's family was in England while his father was serving as the last Minister to Great Britain, before the position was retitled "Ambassador".[1]
Jack was originally buried in the Lincoln Tomb in Springfield, Illinois; his mother later decided on burial at Arlington National Cemetery and Jack's remains were re-interred there in May 1930 near those of his father who had died four years prior.[2][3] Jack's name wasn't added to his father's memorial until 1976.[4]
