Ahu Akivi, the only
moai facing the ocean. The platform is visible but the sloping pavement is heavily grassed over though the boulders come through as a pattern
Ahu Akivi is an
Ahu on
Easter Island (a
Chilean island in the
Pacific). It has been substantially restored and has 7
Moai.
Ahu Akivi also gives its name to one of the seven regions of the
Rapa Nui National Park.
''Ahu Akivi'' is unusual in not being on the coast, and in that its Moai face towards the sea.
It was restored in 1960 by the American Archaeologist William Mulloy
[1].
