AINSWORTH, GREATER MANCHESTER
'Ainsworth' (Cockey Moor) is a small village 4 miles between both Bury and Bolton in Greater Manchester, England.
The village centres around the three Churches; Ainsworth Parish Church, Ainsworth Methodist Church and Ainsworth Unitarian Presbyterian Chapel.
The Parish Church includes a village hall where Scout and Guide groups meet, Ainsworth Scholars pre-school meet, and there are many village clubs and meetings. Similarly, the Unitarian Chapel has a Hall which is used for many acitivies including line dancing, the Women's Institute and Slimming Clubs.
The village contains three pubs; the Rose and Crown, the White Horse and the Duke William. There is a small village post office, Ainsworth Nursing Home, an off-licence and a childrens playground. Ainsworth Football Club meet on a local field.
Every August, the village hold a Village Day on the recreation ground which is always a huge success, with stalls from local community groups and fairground rides.
There are several farms in the village, Whitehead Lodges and a wood, which provide it with a peaceful countryside environment whilst having views of Manchester, only half an hour away.
