On June 2, 2006, grocery retailer 'Albertsons' was split into three separate operating companies. As a result there are two separate companies operating under the 'Albertsons' banner.

'Albertsons' (officially 'New Albertson's, Inc.'), a wholly owned subsidiary of Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Supervalu, is a supermarket retailer that operates 532 grocery stores in Washington state, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Southern California, and certain parts of Utah. Supermarket News ranked parent company Supervalu number five in the 2007 "Top 75 North American Food Retailers".

Albertsons LLC

'Albertsons LLC' is a North American grocery company based in Boise, Idaho with more than 350 supermarkets located throughout the Southwestern, Mountain, and Great Plains states, and Florida under the Albertson's, County Line Liquor, Grocery Warehouse, Max Foods, Super Saver Foods banners. While Albertsons LLC is majority-owned by Cerberus Capital Management, the "Albertsons" name is used under license with Supervalu.
