Career
The band has released two albums, ''Camino Palmero'' (the album featuring the hit single "Wherever You Will Go", as well as the less popular "Adrienne", and "Could It Be Any Harder"), and ''Two'' (which features the songs "Our Lives", "Things Will Go My Way" and "Anything", the video for which features his wife, the actress Jennifer Sky).
His father is the low-budget horror film director Charles Band and as a child, he befriended Demi Moore who was in some of his father's earlier films. His family owns a castle in Giove, Italy.
Band's voice was used on ''The Tonight Show With Jay Leno'' after Leno called and he and Band spoke over the telephone. Band was also featured on a single with the legendary guitarist Carlos Santana, entitled "Why Don't You & I" Originally, Chad Kroeger wrote and sang on "Why Don't You & I" for Santana's ''Shaman''. However, when Arista Records decided to release the song as a single in the summer of 2003, Kroeger's record label, Roadrunner, refused permission, citing concerns that Kroeger appearing on a "high-profile single" would compromise the excitement over Nickelback's release, ''The Long Road''. Kroeger then recommended Band, another Arista artist, as a replacement for re-recording the song.[2][3][4]
Band announced his plans to follow a solo career, putting The Calling on hiatus for a while. He has written songs for his debut album, and plans to tour in 2008 to support the album. Album release expected in the Fall of 2007 or early 2008. You can watch Alex's progress in the studio on his myspace page www.myspace.com/alexbandmusic or on his youtube page at www.youtube.com/user/alexbandtube
His tour will feature new material, but he has also confirmed that he will still perform everyone's favorite songs from The Calling.
Band was invited along with Aaron Kamin to write and record the song "For You" for the soundtrack of the movie ''Daredevil'' starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. With The Calling, Band also recorded the song "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" for the movie ''Sweet Home Alabama'' starring Reese Witherspoon. The hit song "Wherever You Will Go" was featured in the movie "Love Actually" and is on the soundtrack.
Alex recently wrote a song for the new movie "The Final Season" with Mitch Allen. The song is called "Coming Home" and will be available on ITunes later this year.
His marriage to Jennifer Sky took place on July 25, 2004.
The Calling toured all over the world in 2002 and 2004.
Alex (along with Daniel Damico) wrote and recorded a song for the new Bratz Movie. The soundtrack will be released on 7/31/07 under Geffen and the movie will be out on August 3, 2007. The album features many Geffen artists. The song title is "It Doesn't Get Better Than This".
