'''Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine''' is a monthly digest size fiction magazine specializing in crime and detective fiction. ''AHMM'' is named for Alfred Hitchcock, the famed director of suspense films and television.
''AHMM'' was begun in 1956 by HSD Publications. In 1976 it was taken over by Davis Publications. Since 1997 it has been published by Dell Magazines (which also produces its sister publication, ''Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine''). It is one of the oldest fiction magazines in existence; after ''EQMM'', it is the second-longest-running mystery fiction magazine.
Each issue contains several original works of short crime or mystery fiction. In recent years ''AHMM'' has also included book reviews, puzzles, and other features, including one "Mystery Classic" reprint in each issue.
Over its history ''AHMM'' has published short fiction by noted mystery novelists such as Robert Bloch, Lawrence Block, G. K. Chesterton, Ron Goulart, Dorothy L. Sayers, and Donald E. Westlake. The magazine has also depended heavily on regular contributions by short-story specialists such as John H. Dirckx, Kenneth Gavrell, Edward D. Hoch, D. A. McGuire, Jack Ritchie, and Stephen Wasylyk.
