ALLAMA PRABHU
'Allama Prabhu'(1150 CE) was a mystic ''Veerashaiva'' saint and poet of the 12th century. He was born in the village of Balligavi near present day Shivamogga. He was contemporary to Basavanna and is one of the foremost Veerashaiva saints along with Basavanna and Akka Mahadevi.
Like the other Veerashaiva saints also known as ''Sharanas'' or ''Sharanaru'', Allama also composed many Vachanas in the Bhakti tradition. His compositions were in praise of his deity, ''Guheshwara''.
