ALPINE FOOTHILLS

The 'Alpine foothills', or 'Prealps' (German: ''Voralpen''/''Alpenvorland''; ; ) can refer generally to any area of foothills in the Alps of Europe
It can also refer specifically to:

★ The French Prealps, a group of mountain ranges in France

★ ''Voralpen'' (''Préalpes''), a geographical region between the Swiss plateau and the Alps

★ The Swabian-Bavarian Alpine Foothills (''Schwäbisch-Bayerische Voralpen''), southside of Germany

★ The Salzburgian-Upper Austrian Alpine Foothills (''Salzburgerkammergutberge'') in Austria, as a part of the Salzkammergut

★ The Austrian Alpine Foothills (''Österreichische Voralpen'', ''Wienerwald'') leading to the gates of Vienna

★ The Eastern Foothills (''Östliches Randgebirge'', ''Pohorje'') the borderline of the Alps to the Pannonian Basin in Austria and Slovenia

★ The Southern Alpine Foothills (''Predalpe v Sloveniji'', ''Prealpi Italiane'') of Slovenia and Italy. Italian Prealps are traditionally divided into:


Prealpi Luganesi or Varesine


Prealpi Orobiche or Bergamasche


Prealpi Bresciane or Gardesane


Prealpi Venete or Vicentine
