ALTON RAILWAY STATION, STAFFORDSHIRE


'Alton railway station' was a railway station in the village of Alton, Staffordshire, UK. The station was a stop on the North Staffordshire Railway's Churnet Valley line from Macclesfield to Uttoxeter. The station opened on 13 July 1849. It was closed to passengers and goods in 1964.after the nationalization of 1947 it was known as alton towers it also had some very long platforms this is because the earl of Shrewsbury wanted some very long platforms for his guests to arrive on.
