AMBOY TOWNSHIP, FULTON COUNTY, OHIO

Location of Amboy Township in Fulton County

'Amboy Township' is one of the twelve townships of Fulton County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 1,552 people in the township, 989 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township.[1]

Geography


Located in the northeastern corner of the county along the Michigan border, it borders the following townships:

Ogden Township, Lenawee County, Michigan - north

Riga Township, Lenawee County, Michigan - northeast corner

Richfield Township, Lucas County - east

Spencer Township, Lucas County - southeast corner

Fulton Township - south

Pike Township - southwest corner

Royalton Township - west

Fairfield Township, Lenawee County, Michigan - northwest corner
The village of Metamora is located in northeastern Amboy Township.

Name and history


It is the only Amboy Township statewide.

Government


The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
