Plot

Ben Sobel is a psychiatrist about to get married with a mostly boring life, and unsupportive parents. Paul Vitti, a mob boss, who, for the sake of his job needs to keep his calm, starts suffering panic attacks, and realizes he needs psychological help, especially in light of a major mobster meeting due soon.
Because of a haphazard car accident and some exchange of business cards, the two meet and Vitti bosses Sobel to be his full-time psychiatrist. In the process, Vitti ruins Sobel’s wedding and turns his practice and his life topsy-turvy. In addition, the FBI keep trying to hook Sobel up with microphones to spy on Vitti, which threatens doctor-patient confidentiality, not to mention Sobel’s life.
Slowly but surely, Vitti makes progress as he digs into his youth and questions his choice of profession, which ripples the whole mob with surprise and suspicion.
