ANSTEY CASTLE
'Anstey Castle' was in the village of Anstey, Hertfordshire ().
It was a 12th century stone motte and bailey fortress, founded by Eustace, Count of Boulogne. It was strengthened during the Magna Carta war of 1215-16 by an opponent of King John. Only the mound now remains.
