ANTONY, HAUTS-DE-SEINE


'Antony' is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 11.3 km. (7 miles) from the center of Paris. Antony is a ''sous-préfecture'' of the Hauts-de-Seine ''département'', being the seat of the Arrondissement of Antony.

Name


The name Antony was recorded for the first time in a royal charter of 829 as ''Antoniacum'', meaning "estate of Antonius", a Gallo-Roman landowner.

Antony station is an interchange station with the Orlyval, which carries passengers to Orly Airport.
Finally, Antony is also served by Chemin d'Antony station on Paris RER line C.
