APONOGETONACEAE
'Aponogetonaceae' is the botanical name of a family of flowering plants. For the past few decades such a family has been universally recognized by taxonomists: it is sometimes called the "Cape-pondweed family" or "Aponogeton family".
The APG II system, of 2003 (unchanged from the APG system, of 1998), also recognizes this family and places it in the order Alismatales, in the clade monocots. The family consists of only one genus, ''Aponogeton'', with several dozen species of aquatic plants.
