'Arafo' is a municipality of the northeastern part of the island of Tenerife in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife (province) , on the Canary Islands. The city is also a suburb of Santa Cruz city.
The population is 5,276 (INE, 2005), its density is 155.54/km² and the area is 33.92 km². Arafo is linked with the old highway linking Abona and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (City) and the TF1 Motorway which encircles the eastern and the southern portions of the island and has an interchange near Arafo to the southeast.
Business, tourism, and limited agriculture are the principle drivers of Arafo's economy. The urban area and some farmlands dominate the coastline; the majority of farmland rests in valley areas, while mountains, grasslands, and forests lie to the west.
