ARTHUR JOHN ENSOR
Arthur John Ensor was a British-Canadian painter. He was born in Llanishen, Wales on 02 January 1905. His family emigrated to Canada when he was a child. [1] He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was an Industrial designer. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art [2]
In 1942, he produced a landscape watercolour of ''Mount Peter, British Columbia''. [3]
In 1967, He produced a 50 Cent Centennial Canada Post Stamp ''Summer Stores'' [4]
In the 1970s, he produced a series of watercolor paintings and coloured pencil sketches of Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario scenes, which are currently in the Beaverbrook Collection of War Art at the Canadian War Museum. [5] The RMC scenes include:
★ officer cadets playing ''Football'' as well as architectural paintings of:
★ ''Massey Library'',
★ ''Sawyer building'',
★ ''Officer’s mess'' and
★ ''Fort Fredrick''.
In addition, he painted RMC office cadets
★ ''Measuring Flow Resistance To A Solution Of Calcium Carbonate'',
★ ''Land Survey Crew'', and
★ 'Calibrating Radar Waves, Electrical Engineering Department.'' [5]
Arthur John Ensor is represented in major museums and public galleries throughout Canada.
He died in Ottawa, Ontario on 18 January 1995.
