ASCHERSLEBEN


'Aschersleben' () is a town in the Salzlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated approx. 22 km east of Quedlinburg, and 45 km northwest of Halle (Saale).
Aschersleben is also the seat of the ''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'' ("collective municipality") Aschersleben-Land, which consists of the following municipalities (population in 2005 between brackets):

★ During World War II, a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp was located here. It was established to provide slave labour for Junkers (aircraft) and Motorenwerk (automotive).[1]
