ASSELIAN

In the geologic timescale, the 'Asselian' is the age of the Cisuralian epoch of the Permian period of the Paleozoic era of the Phanerozoic eon that extends from 299±0.8 to 294.6±0.8 million years ago. It is the first age in the Permian. The Asselian age succeeds the Gzhelian age of the Pennsylvanian epoch of the Carboniferous period and precedes the Sakmarian age of the Cisuralian epoch.
