The 'Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada' (ATS) is an organization of seminaries and other graduate schools of theology. It is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has more than 250 member schools. Its earlier name was the American Association of Theological Schools.

Accreditation

The ATS 'Commission on Accrediting' provides accreditation for graduate schools of theology. The Commission is made up of all member schools that are themselves accredited or are candidates for accrediting. It is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and United States Department of Education to accredit schools. ATS should not be confused with regional accreditation.

Requirements

Schools accredited by ''The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada'' generally require one to complete 3 years of full-time ministry after the initial theological degree, normally the Master of Divinity (MDiv) before entering any Doctor of Ministry program.
