'Athlone Institute of Technology' ('AIT', ''Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Ãtha Luain'' in Irish) formerly 'Regional Technical College, Athlone' is one of the original network of Regional Technical Colleges; it was built in Athlone, Ireland. It was established in 1970 and was upgraded to an ''Institute of Technology'' in 1998.
The institution offers a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses: National Certificates, National Diplomas and academic degrees. The institution offers the only polymer degree course in Ireland.
The college consists of two campuses, the main one on the East side of Athlone, housing most of the faculties and academic facilities such as the library, while the Northgate Street campus, in the town centre, is home to the Art and Design courses.
