'Auburn' is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Hawthorn East on the Lilydale, Belgrave and Alamein railway lines. It is in Metcard Zone 1.

The station is located at the eastern end of the Auburn Road rail overpass. Shops are located near the station.

Facilities


The station consists of three platforms, two in an island format. The island platform (platforms 1&2) contains a large red brick building, while platforms 3 contains a semi-large red brick building. A large Metcard machine is located in the station's subway, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins.
Both platforms can be accessed via Auburn Road.

History


Auburn station opened on Monday, 3rd April 1882 as Auburn Road. It was later renamed to Auburn in the same year.
