'Biobío' is Chile's eighth administrative region from north to south.
It comprises four provicenes, and is the second most important region of in the country, after the metropolitan area of Santiago. The capital is the city of Concepción.
It is bordered on the on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the east by Argentina, on the north by region VII, and on the south by region IX.
