'''Bathylutichthys taranetzi''' is the only member of the fish family 'Bathylutichthyidae' and the only species in the 'Bathylutichthys' genus. It is a deep sea fish with a length of about 10 cm, and has been found exclusively in the vicinity of the South Georgia Island in the Southern Ocean at depths of 1650 metres.
