BATTLE OF BELMONT (1899)


The 'Battle of Belmont' is the name of an engagement of the Second Boer War in the town of Belmont, 23 November 1899, where the British under Lord Methuen assaulted a Boer position on a near by hill, the Boers under Commander J. Prinsloo fled along the train line to the next station at Graspan
