BATTLE OF DAMGHAN
The 'Battle of Damghan' was fought in September 1729 between Persians and Afghan (''ethnic Pashtun'') tribesmen near city of Damghan. The Persians were led by Nader Shah, while the Afghans were led by Ashraf Khan. The battle followed by another one in Murcheh-Khort, which was a village near Isfahan. Nadir Shah's forces were victorious in both battles, which led him to remove the Hotaki dynasty from the Persian throne. The Ghilzai Afghans were forced back to their territory in southern Afghanistan.[1]
