BAYSIDE COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL (GIBRALTAR)


'Bayside Comprehensive School' or simply 'Bayside' is a single-sex (boys') comprehensive school in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar.
Secondary Education is free, full-time and compulsory between the ages 12+ and 15+ years. Education & Training The 11+ selective system came to an end in 1972, with the two single-sex grammar schools, and the four single-sex secondary modern schools merging into the two existing single-sex comprehensive schools.

Bayside School came into being in 1972 when it was decided to implement the Comprehensive System of education in Gibraltar. General infomation Three separate schools were then merged to become the only Secondary school for boys between the ages of 12 and 18. The three schools were St. Jago's Secondary Modern, Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary Modern and the Gibraltar Grammar School. However, it was 1974 before all the students could be accommodated in one building on the present site of Bayside.
