BEACHES (ELECTORAL DISTRICT)

The federal Beaches riding in relation to the other Metro Toronto ridings of that era

'Beaches' was a federal and provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, represented in the Canadian House of Commons from 1979 to 1988, and in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1926 to 1967.

Federal electoral district


The federal riding was created in 1976, from parts of Broadview, Greenwood and York East ridings.
It consisted of that part of the City of Toronto east of a line drawn from south to north along Leslie Street, west along Queen Street East, north along Jones Avenue, east along Gerrard Street East, and north along Greenwood Avenue.
The electoral district was abolished in 1987 when it was redistributed between Beaches—Woodbine and Broadview—Greenwood ridings.

Robin Richardson, Progressive Conservative, (1979-1980)

Neil Young, New Democratic Party, (1980-1988)

The Beaches provincial riding was created in 1926. It was merged in 1967 with the neighbouring riding of Woodbine to become Beaches—Woodbine.
