BERBERE

'Berbere' (Amharic: በርበሬ ''berberē'', Tigrinya: በርበረ ''berbere'') is a spice mixture whose ingredients usually include chile peppers, ginger, cloves, coriander, allspice, rue berries, and ajwain (also known as bishop's weed). It is a key ingredient in the Cuisine of Ethiopia and Cuisine of Eritrea.
Berbere ingredients are sometimes plants that are less well known internationally, including both cultivated plants and those that grow wild in Ethiopia, for example ''Aframomum corrorima'' (Braun) Jansen[1] and long pepper.[2]
