BERCK
'Berck', settled as 'Bierk' sometimes referred to as 'Berck-sur-Mer' is a commune of northern France, in the ''department'' of Pas-de-Calais. Population (1999): 15,011 inhabitants for the commune and 23,379 inhabitants for the canton. "Berck" is most Southern-ward name with German roots, and widen to the Birch tree. Older Spelling 13th Century: ''Berc'', origins with ''Bierk''.
