'American City Business Journals' is an American newspaper chain based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Its chairman is Ray Shaw.
Through 41 primary metropolitan weekly publications, the company reaches 4 million readers with in-depth coverage of their business communities. It also publishes Street & Smith's Sports Group, which publishes motorsports periodicals, as well as SportsBusiness Journal, Sports Business Daily, and five sports annuals. The company also is the United States' leading publisher of NASCAR magazines.
The company also publishes specialty publications, which include a high-tech business newspaper, a law journal, and Hemmings Motor News, the "bible" of the collector-car hobby.
In October 2006, the company acquired The Sporting News.
It is a unit of Advance Publications Inc., which also operates Conde Nast Magazines, The New Yorker, Parade magazine, Newhouse Newspapers and other publishing and cable television operations.
The company also operates Bizjournals, which portals to Web sites of the company's 41 print business journals, as well as a Web-only local business news and information site for Los Angeles, California. The Web site features local business news from around the nation, updated throughout the day, top business stories from the company's print editions, industry-specific news from more than 40 industries, advice columns, and tools to help business owners and operators manage their businesses.
