BLACK PYRAMID
Located in the pyramid field at Dahshur in Egypt, the so-called 'Black Pyramid' of Amenemhat III is now little more than a ruined rubble mound. Originally called ''Amenemhat is mighty'', it was constructed with a core of mud-bricks, and encased in limestone – but the usual internal stone structures were not used, and this may be the reason for its eventual collapse. The pyramidion from the Black Pyramid has been recovered, and is on display in the main hall of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
