'Bloomfield' is a city in Nelson County, Kentucky. The population was 855 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.78% is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 855 people, 347 households, and 231 families residing in the city. The population density was 255.9/km² (665.2/mi²). There were 384 housing units at an average density of 114.9/km² (298.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 87.49% White, 11.46% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.35% from other races, and 0.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.47% of the population.
There were 347 households out of which 30.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.0% were married couples living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.4% were non-families. 29.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 90.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.3 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $33,393, and the median income for a family was $40,109. Males had a median income of $34,375 versus $20,515 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,359. About 8.6% of families and 12.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.9% of those under age 18 and 23.8% of those age 65 or over.
