BLUTENGEL

'Blutengel' (German: ''Blood Angel'') is a German futurepop and eurodance musical group with a gothic-like attitude. It was formed by singer Chris Pohl (also of the groups Terminal Choice, Tumor, and Pain of Progress and the owner of the Fear Section label) after he had to leave Seelenkrank due to contractual and legal problems. The lyrics are written primarily in German and English and consist of male and female vocals.

History

Blutengel was formed after German singer Chris Pohl (Terminal Choice) left his former band "Seelenkrank". Later, the music project returned with a new label and also a new name: Blutengel.
The lyrics are primarily in German and/or English and mixed between male and female vocals paired with electronic sounds and with songs often focusing on all aspects of love, from the tragedy of hopeless romance all the way to the more animal aspects of desire.
The female vocals were originally performed by Kati Roloff and Nina Bendigkeit when Blutengel's debut album ''Child of Glass'' was released in 1999. Although the first album was successful, not much was heard from the band for a while for the next two years while they worked on their next album ''Seelenschmerz''.
In the meantime, the line-up had changed. In 2000 or so Nina(at that time the main female vocal) had become successful with her photographer career, so she left the band and then Kati became the main female voice and for the 2nd female vocalist, Gini Martin was found. ''"Children of the Night"'', ''"Der Spiegel"'', ''"Soul of Ice"' among many others made "Seelenschmerz" so successful that it just missed appearing in the German Top 100.
At the end of 2001, the single ''Black Roses'' appeared with Constance Rudert as a session singer and the band performed at the Dark Storm Festival in which Constance also appeared as a guest besides Kati and Gini. Further, this was the last time the band would play with its original line-up. Kati and Gini left the band days latter by personal and also unknown reasons and founded their own project, Tristesse de la Lune. Kati has been replaced by Constance Rudert and Gini by Eva Pölzing who was found soon afterwards.
With the new line-up the band's next album, ''Angel Dust'' appeared, placing 58th on the Top 100 albums in its first week because of hits like ''"Angel of the Night"'' and ''"Vampire Romance"'' making Blutengel become much more popular. An interesting fact is that the ''Angel Dust'' promotional photoshoot and booklet was made by Nina Bendigkeit.
In 2004 their 4th album, ''Demon Kiss'' was released, followed by the DVD ''Live Lines'' which appeared latter in 2005, but bad news came out: As of early October Eva Pölzing decided to leave Blutengel, to seek her studies and other projects in her personal life.
So, Eva has been replaced by Ulrike Goldmann (ex-Say-Y) and the EP's ''The Oxidising Angel'' and ''My Saviour'' were released.
