BOB EMSLIE
'Robert Daniel Emslie' (January 27 1859 - April 26 1943), nicknamed "Blind Bob," was a Canadian pitcher in Major League Baseball who went on to set numerous records for longevity as an umpire.
After pitching for 3 years from 1883 to 1885, he went on to work as an umpire for 35 years from 1890 through 1924. Born in Guelph, Upper Canada, he played for the Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia As, both of the American Association.
Emslie died at age 84 in St. Thomas, Ontario. He was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986. Emslie Field in St. Thomas is named after him.
