2001 12 Hours of Sebring - In memory of Bob Wollek - Always use 'Watch In High Quality' Option Provided by YouTube
...Scenes from the 49th annual running of the 12 Hours of Sebring. Tragically, Bob Wollek, an extraordinary race car driver, is killed while riding his bicycle near the track. This video is dedicated to Bob Wollek. The track footage is all shot from the outside of Turn One. By midday we needed a break from the relentless sun, and that's when Bo, Greer, Dave, Martin and myself hiked through the Green Park and sat out on the front lawn of the Chateau Elan (hotel and spa) outside of the hairpin turn and had a few pops. After hanging outside for awhile we went inside to cool off in the AC and had a chance to schmoose with Don Panoz. For those who may not know Don Panoz, he is the father of the ALMS Petit LeMans Racing Series and also claims among his numerous holdings, Sebring and Road Atlanta. For more on Don Panoz check here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Panoz . We are always camped at Turn 11 (Collier Curve) trackside and are home of the La Bomba race car float. I think it is safe to say that La Bomba is now legendary at the 12 Hours of Sebring. We'll see you there in 2009!

12 Hours of Sebring 1998 La Bomba Racing Float Prep - Alway Use The ' Watch In High Quality' option provided by YouTube
The making of the La Bomba Race Car Float for the 1998 annual running of the 12 Hours of Sebring. This was the second year of existence for the now legendary La Bomba Float. In her debut year (1997) we painted the graphics on the hard sides of the float. In subsequent years we painted all the graphics on removable panels so that we could use them again the following year after painting the float all the various transformations that it goes through throughout the year. So here we were in 1998 having to start again from scratch. We usually get started about two weeks before the big race and work like mad until we get her done. The cast of characters involved at any one time in prepping the float is probably about twenty-five or so persons. Check out the 1997 video of us working on the float for Sebring @ - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCs_Sr7qaX8 More Later.
