BOB PLATT
'Robert Kenworthy Platt', known as Bob, is a first class cricketer who played 96 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1955 and 1963 and 3 for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club in 1964. He also played 2 first class matches for the Combined Services in 1956. He had the misfortune to play in strong era for English seam bowling and his prolific wicket taking would surely have won him test recognition in another era.
Forming a formidable opening combination with Fred Trueman, Platt, a right arm medium bowler, took 301 wickets at a miserly 22.58 with a best of 7 for 40 against Gloucestershire. He also took 7 for 70 against Surrey and 6 for 33 against Middlesex. A right handed tail end batsman, he scored 424 runs at 7.31 with his solitary fifty, a remarkable knock of 57

He was born on December 26, 1932, Holmfirth, Yorkshire and won his Yorkshire first team cap in 1959. He also appeared for Yorkshire Second XI between 1955 and 1971, The Royal Air Force in 1956, Northamptonshire Second XI in 1964 and 1965 and the International Cavaliers and a Roses XI in 1966.
After retiring he served on the Yorkshire Committee, and was proud to serve as President.
