BOUCHERVILLE, QUEBEC

'Boucherville' is a town in the Montérégie region of the Canadian province of Québec. It is a suburb of Montréal on the South shore of the Saint Lawrence River. Boucherville is part of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (Montreal Metropolitan Community) regional government.
As of 2001, the population was 36,253. In 1996, the population was 34,989 (A population change of +3.6%). The area of the town is 70.80 square kilometres.
After the 2002 municipal mergers, Boucherville became a borough of Longueuil. It has since then demerged on January 1, 2006 after a referendum was held on June 20, 2004.
Boucherville is also the Headquarters of Rona, Canada's leading distributor and retailer in hardware, home improvement and gardening products, founded in the town in 1939.
The popular website Têtes à Claques is based in Boucherville.
