'Boundary Peak' is the highest summit in Nevada and is located in Esmeralda County. It is located entirely within the state of Nevada, although it is only about half a mile (1 km) from the California border. Montgomery Peak (13,441 ft / 4,097 m) is located just across the border in California, and Boundary Peak can be considered a sub-peak of Montgomery. Boundary Peak is 82 feet (25 m) higher than the second highest Nevada peak, Wheeler Peak (13,065 ft / 3,982 m). An area surrounding the peak is protected as the Boundary Peak Wilderness Area.
