BOWLAND COLLEGE
'Bowland College' is Lancaster University's oldest and smallest college. It was founded 1964, and celebrated its 40th anniversary in November 2004. In 2004, the college took over the space vacated to the north of the college, by Lonsdale College, which was named Bowland North until the beginning of Michaelmas Term 2006/2007 and is now named Ash House. Bowland additionally now vacates Bowland Annex to the north of Ash House and Bowland Halls to the North-West of there. In 2007 Bowland will gain "Slaidburn House" to add to its ever expanding accommodation.
The college was named after the Forest of Bowland, to the east of Lancaster, and the logo, the Bowland Lady, is a personification of the forest. The students themselves have their very own saying to match the lady and it can often be heard being sang at various college competitions or simply on a night out: "Bowland 'til we die!".
