'Braselton' is a town in Jackson, Gwinnett, Barrow, and Hall Counties in the State of Georgia, about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,206. Census Estimates for 2005 show a population of 2,294. Braselton was named after the Braselton family that has lived in the area for some time.
The town was bought from the Braselton Families by a partnership between the Ameritech Pension fund and actress Kim Basinger in 1989 for $20 million. The Basinger-Braselton partnership hoped to establish Braselton as a tourist attraction with movie studios and a film festival. Basinger eventually sold her minor portion to the Ameritech Fund when she met financial difficulties. The town is under the ownership of developer Wayne Mason. It is also the headquarters of the American Junior Golf Association, IMSA, the Panoz Motor Sports Group, and the Road Atlanta race track. Also found are the newly arrived major distribution warehouses for Sears Appliance Division, Tractor Supply, Haverty's Furniture and Home Depot.
A local favorite is the Mayfield Dairy Ice Cream and milk manufacturing center.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 18.6 km² (7.2 mi²). All of it is land and none is covered by water.
In 1950 Braselton had a population of 165. (Source=Columbia-Lippincott Gazetter).
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,206 people, 459 households, and 360 families residing in the town. The population density was 64.7/km² (167.4/mi²). There were 491 housing units at an average density of 26.3/km² (68.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 91.38% White, 1.33% African American, 5.56% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 0.58% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.32% of the population.
There were 459 households out of which 32.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.6% were married couples living together, 7.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% were non-families. 18.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 2.96.
In the town the population was spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 31.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.6 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $56,563, and the median income for a family was $64,667. Males had a median income of $46,477 versus $27,292 for females. The per capita income for the town was $39,135. About 4.1% of families and 6.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.9% of those under age 18 and 12.6% of those age 65 or over.
