BREAST FETISHISM

(Redirected from Breast fetish)

'Breast fetishism'[1] is the attribution of powerful or supernatural qualities to the ''concept'' of perceiving breasts as signs of human sexuality.
The legitimization of the sexual attraction to breasts is invoked by the psychiatric condition of Sexual Fetishism or other forms of paraphilias. The belief that a sexual desire for women and their breasts needs to be legitimized derives from an unresolved (except for the psychiatric solution) ethical contradiction between the primitive or biological urge to perceive breasts as inherently sexual objects, while realising the urge is against a categorical imperative in which the human right of all individuals to self-realization (e.g. regardless of age, race, physical appearance etc.) will be abused if the urge (itself) is realized. The result of this unresolved contradiction is the sublimation of the biological urge, which causes a heightened state of arousal conducive to a state of sexual pleasure; thereby providing the fetishist with an incentive for perpetuating the process, and a moral justification in the irrational attribution of supernatural qualities to psychosexual concepts. This also may be a predominantly male reaction to the women who re-identitified themselves with the liberation and intellectualism of the feminist movement.
If Freud's conception of the unconscious and psychodynamic movement in the late 19th century was the result of a primitive stage in the development of western civilizations understanding of the self in a modern capitalist environment, then it may be said that the products of this movement can be fetishized in both the anthropological and Marxist sense (see fetish and commodity fetishism), that fetish objects of sexual fetishism (itself) exist[2], or have been nullified in the female de-objectification literature of the feminists.
Clinical definitions by the American Psychiatric Associations DSM (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) includes the attraction to isolated parts of the body as partialisms rather than sexual fetishes, and no case is made for fetishizing the body among the "Disorders of sexual preference" included in the World health organizations (WHO) ICD on psychosexual health.[3]

Language and culture

The methods for investigating the scale and physical properties of breasts can be particularly important in relation to sustaining the concept of a ''breast fetish'' or a breast partialism. The methods depend on the attention to the means of cultural influence and communication, eg, in western culture it is common for the consumption of pornographic media to provide the method of investigation.[4] The comodification of sexuality and thus its pragmatic sustainability has encouraged the market for breast enlargement surgery for women who feel their breasts are inadequate while compared to the counterparts of a culture immersed in the virtues of fetishization.[5] Many porn stars have capitalized on this obsession for valuable (or perfect) breasts by having their breasts altered beyond natural sizes and responses to gravity, which in itself has become a niche of the broader category. Although perfect breasts as "large breasts" is a difficult concept to define quantitatively, the consensus among many independent web sites is that a DD cup size and larger qualifies as "large".[6]
Some fetishists prefer puffy areolae or unusually long or thick nipples. There are also fetishes concerned with erotic lactation. Many people are also aroused by the movement of breasts, particularly "jiggling" or "bouncing" ones. Shape is also a factor, and spherical breasts are especially popular. Other important aspects are the proportionality of the parts of the breast, and the color and texture of the skin, nipples and areolas. This may have to do with the way many women's breasts change during and after pregnancy.
Some individuals have a fetishistic preference for large "natural" breasts without breast implants. Natural-appearing breasts used to be a requirement to become a Page Three girl in the UK tabloid ''The Sun''. Another magazine featuring the "natural" look is ''Perfect 10''.

Some gay men and straight women also idolize breasts to the extent that they consider themselves breast fetishists.[7]
