BREEDE RIVER
The 'Breede River' is a river in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.
It is approximately 337 km long with a catchment area of 12,384 km². The word "Breede" is Dutch for "wide". The major towns in the catchment include Swellendam in the middle to lower catchment, Montagu and Robertson in the middle catchment and Worcester in the upper catchment. There is one dam on the river, the the Brandvlei Dam. The river's source catchment is in the Skurweberge mountain range above Ceres and it mouths into the Indian Ocean at Witsand at St. Sebastian Bay.
